Hair Salons in Basking Ridge, Bernardsville and Bedminster, NJ
By Tiffany Slowinski
There are some local recommendations women hand out casually.
A coffee shop.
A dry cleaner.
A place to get lunch.
A hair stylist is not one of them.
That recommendation usually comes with evidence.
“Look at my color.”
“She actually listens.”
“She fixed what the last person did.”
“I have been going to her for 11 years.”
Now we are talking.
If you are searching for hair salons in Basking Ridge, Bernardsville, Bedminster, Far Hills or Peapack-Gladstone, this guide is designed for the way women actually choose a salon.
Not simply by distance.
By what we need done.
Maybe you want balayage or hair painting.
Maybe you need highlights.
Maybe you are covering gray every few weeks and wondering whether gray blending would buy you a little more breathing room.
Maybe your hair is curly and you want someone who understands Rezo or Deva-style cutting.
Maybe you want a keratin smoothing treatment.
Maybe you need a blowout, formal hair or bridal hair and makeup.
Maybe you just need a really good cut and color from someone you trust.
The current Somerset Hills salon guide reflects that range. The salons publish services that include hair painting and foil color, keratin smoothing, Deva cuts, Rezo curly cuts, bridal hair and makeup, formal styling and more. One local salon also publishes Sunday hours, which can matter a lot when weekday appointments are a fantasy.
This is why I do not love the question, “What is the best hair salon in Basking Ridge?”
Best at what?
And for whom?
A woman looking for a curly cut has a different shortlist from someone looking for bridal hair. Someone who wants bright blonde highlights may be searching for a different stylist than someone transitioning to gray. A woman who wants a classic cut and single-process color may prioritize consistency and scheduling over everything else.
Hair is personal.
The search should be too.
For color, look beyond the salon name and into the stylist’s actual work.
If you want balayage, look for balayage.
If you want beautiful brunette color, make sure the portfolio contains brunettes.
If you want gray blending, look for mature clients and examples of softer grow-outs.
If you want to go substantially lighter or correct old color, book a consultation first.
Your hair has a history.
Tell them all of it.
Box dye. Keratin. Old highlights. That one decision during COVID.
No judgment.
They need the information.
Curly hair deserves the same specificity. The local guide identifies salons that publish Rezo and Deva cutting services, which is much more useful than assuming every salon approaches curls the same way.
Then there is maintenance.
This is the part I think women should ask about before they fall in love with the result.
How often do I need to come back?
What will this look like at eight weeks?
Can I stretch appointments?
What does the maintenance appointment cost?
Is this color compatible with how much effort I am realistically willing to put into my hair every morning?
You want the hair that fits your life.
Not the hair that requires a second career.
The Garden State Circle guide below compares salons in the Somerset Hills using the services each salon publishes and the active New Jersey shop license at its published address. The salons are listed alphabetically, not ranked.

How We Selected These Salons
Salons in Bernardsville, Bernards Township (Basking Ridge, Liberty Corner, Lyons), Far Hills, Bedminster (Pluckemin) and Peapack-Gladstone, and the nearby salons people here drive to. Salons are listed alphabetically within each table; the order is not a ranking.
About This Guide
This guide is produced by Garden State Circle. Salons appear here because they meet the criteria described above – a hair salon as the business describes itself on its own website, with a street address it publishes in Bernardsville, Bernards Township (Basking Ridge, Liberty Corner, Lyons), Far Hills, Bedminster (Pluckemin) and Peapack-Gladstone, and an Active shop license on the state register at that address. That is a test, not a judgment, and it is the only route onto this page. No business can pay to be included in this guide, to be listed higher, or to change what the comparison table says about it. Businesses are listed alphabetically, and every detail in the table was verified against each business’s own website and the license register of the State Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling, Division of Consumer Affairs, in September 2026. The license column reports the state’s shop license on the register on the date shown and nothing else.
Everything under the heading that begins this guide is governed by the rules above, on every guide we publish. Where a sponsor’s message appears above that heading, it is paid for and labeled, and it buys nothing in the guide. Garden State Circle is supported by the businesses that participate in it. Participation pays for our ongoing work: keeping a business’s entry accurate, re-checking its record, and publishing a page of its own details that the business maintains. There is no paid placement in this guide. Participation does not buy a place here, a position here, or anything the comparison table says. Where a row carries a verification date, that is when we last checked that business’s record ourselves. A row without one has not been checked recently – that is a fact about our work, not about the business.

Something out of date?
This guide is maintained. If anything here is wrong or has changed — a name, an address, hours, or ownership — tell us and we will check it. Businesses listed here are welcome to write in directly, and a business that publishes a detail we have recorded as Not published is exactly the kind of correction we want.
And if you run a hair salon that should be on this list and is not: the test is the same one every business here cleared — that you lead with hair in your own published words, that your premises sit somewhere in Bernardsville, Bernards Township (Basking Ridge, Liberty Corner, Lyons), Far Hills, Bedminster (Pluckemin) and Peapack-Gladstone, and that the shop holds an active New Jersey shop license at that address. Show us that and you go on the page.
