The Guide: Plumbers near Atlantic Highlands, NJ

How to Use This Guide

Jump to the table ↓

New Jersey licenses plumbing to a named person. Every plumbing company in the state works under a Master Plumber license held by an individual and registered with the State Board of Examiners of Master Plumbers. This guide lists plumbing companies near Atlantic Highlands, Highlands and Keansburg, and what each one prints about its license.

For each company, the table gives the town it is based in, the master plumber it names, the license number as its own website prints it, and its emergency service in its own words. We have not yet run these numbers against the state register. Where a company does not say, the cell reads Not published.

The table lists six companies near these towns, each with the town it is based in. It is in alphabetical order and is not a ranking.

How We Selected These Companies

A company appears in this guide if it does residential plumbing work and gives an address in Atlantic Highlands, Highlands or Keansburg on its own website or Google Business Profile. Where fewer than five companies in these towns met this test, the nearest companies that do residential plumbing work and give an address on their own website or Google Business Profile are listed, each with the town it is based in.

About This Guide

This guide is produced by Garden State Circle. Plumbing companies appear here because they meet the test described above — a company does residential plumbing work, gives an address on its own website or Google Business Profile, and is among the nearest to these towns. That is a test, not a judgment, and it is the only route onto this page. No business can pay to be included in this guide, to be listed higher, or to change what the comparison table says about it. Businesses are listed alphabetically, and every detail in the table was checked against each business’s own website in October 2026.

Everything under the heading that begins this guide is governed by the rules above, on every guide we publish. Where a sponsor’s message appears above that heading, it is paid for and labeled, and it buys nothing in the guide. Garden State Circle is supported by the businesses that participate in it. Participation pays for our ongoing work: keeping a business’s entry accurate, re-checking its record, and publishing a page of its own details that the business maintains. There is no paid placement in this guide. Participation does not buy a place here, a position here, or anything the comparison table says. Where a row carries a check date, that is when we last checked that business’s record ourselves. A row without one has not been checked recently — that is a fact about our work, not about the business.

How to Read the License Column

New Jersey issues more than one kind of plumbing license, and they are not interchangeable.

Master Plumber is the contractor’s license. A master plumber may hold out to the public, take contracts and qualify a business. Every plumbing company operating lawfully in New Jersey works under one, held by a named individual.

Journeyman Plumber is a license to do the work, not to sell it. A journeyman plumber is licensed by the state and is not qualified to contract in their own name. A company described only as employing “licensed plumbers” has not told you which of the two it means.

The column prints the license wording exactly as each company’s own website gives it. It is not a rating, not a measure of quality, and not a statement about insurance. Not published means we read the company’s website and the fact is not on it. That is a fact about a website, not a statement about the company.

Common Questions

What is the difference between a master plumber and a journeyman plumber in New Jersey?

A master plumber holds the contractor’s license: they may advertise to the public, take contracts and qualify a business. A journeyman plumber is licensed to perform plumbing work but not to contract in their own name. Both are licensed by the state. A company that describes its people only as “licensed plumbers” has not said which it means.

Is a plumbing company required to publish its license number?

Yes. N.J.A.C. 13:32-3.1 requires the licensed master plumber’s name, New Jersey business address and license number to appear in all advertising, on business correspondence and invoices, and on both sides of every commercial vehicle used in the work. The rule also makes anyone whose name or number appears in an advertisement personally responsible for its content.

What does it mean when a plumber’s advertising says part of the work may be performed by subcontractors?

It means the state required them to say it. Under N.J.A.C. 13:32-3.1(e), a plumbing contractor who subcontracts out more than a third of a year’s work must state in all advertising: “A substantial part of the work which we undertake may be performed by independent licensed plumbing subcontractors.” The absence of that sentence is not evidence of anything — a company may simply be under the threshold.

Can a company based outside these towns appear on this page?

Yes. The table lists the nearest companies, each with the town it is based in.

When was this page last checked?

Every row was checked against the company’s own website in October 2026. If something here is wrong or has changed, the note at the end of the guide says how to tell us.

Who Governs Plumbing Work in Atlantic Highlands, NJ

Two state agencies sit behind residential plumbing work in New Jersey. The Division of Consumer Affairs, through the State Board of Examiners of Master Plumbers, issues and renews the plumbing license; a master plumber license is renewed every two years. The Department of Community Affairs, Division of Codes and Standards administers the Uniform Construction Code, whose plumbing subcode governs the work itself. New Jersey adopted the 2024 editions of the model codes on August 17, 2026, according to the Division’s current codes table.

This guide covers Atlantic Highlands, Highlands and Keansburg, and each is its own municipality with its own construction office. We have not yet opened those offices and do not list them here; the permit office is found on each town’s own website.

Fee schedules are adopted by ordinance and change. Whether a particular job needs a permit is interpreted by the town’s own construction office, not by us. Confirm with the office before you rely on anything here, and if any of it has changed, the correction address at the foot of this page is the fastest way to tell us.

Something out of date?

This guide is maintained. If anything here is wrong or has changed — a license, an address, or whether they still do that trade — tell us and we will check it. Businesses listed here are welcome to write in directly, and a company that publishes a license number we have recorded as absent is exactly the kind of correction we want.

And if you run a plumbing company that should be on this list and is not, write to us. The test is that you do residential plumbing work and give an address in Atlantic Highlands, Highlands or Keansburg on your own website or Google Business Profile. Show us that and you go on the page.
