Window quotes have a way of arriving as one giant number for the entire house, which makes it surprisingly hard to figure out what you are actually paying for. In Bridgewater, Martinsville, Bound Brook, Branchburg and Hillsborough, an all-vinyl, custom-fit standard double-hung replacement window runs $950 – $1,250 per unit installed in 2026.
| Product or issue | 2026 figure |
|---|---|
| All-vinyl, custom fit | $950 – $1,250 per unit installed |
| Andersen 200 series | $1,250 – $1,500 per unit installed |
| Andersen 400 series | $1,500 – $2,000 per unit installed |
| Basis for pricing | Standard double-hung window |
| Frame/sill repair | rare |
When Garden State Circle interviewed Vic Fiore on Sept. 2, 2026, we asked him to break the whole-house number apart and price windows by the opening. Vic Fiore has run Magnolia Home Remodeling Group since 1996, and his company works across Bridgewater, Martinsville, Bound Brook, Branchburg and Hillsborough.
For the comparison, we used a standard double-hung window, “which is what most homes are built with.”
That gave us three clear price tiers, but the most interesting part of the interview was not the difference between the tiers. It was learning how two contractors can quote the same opening in two completely different ways.
What does a replacement window cost per opening?
In Bridgewater, Martinsville, Bound Brook, Branchburg and Hillsborough, an all-vinyl, custom-fit standard double-hung replacement window runs $950 – $1,250 per unit installed in 2026.
The next tier in the conversation was the Andersen 200 series.
In Bridgewater, Martinsville, Bound Brook, Branchburg and Hillsborough, an Andersen 200 series standard double-hung replacement window runs $1,250 – $1,500 per unit installed in 2026.
Fiore explained why Andersen appears so often in homeowner conversations.
“The Andersen products are very widely produced. They’re well made. The warranties are substantial. So homeowners understand the name.”
He also made clear that simply comparing brand names is not enough.
“You have Pella, you have Marvin, you have Andersen. They all have competing products and competing levels.”
At the next tier:
In Bridgewater, Martinsville, Bound Brook, Branchburg and Hillsborough, an Andersen 400 series standard double-hung replacement window runs $1,500 – $2,000 per unit installed in 2026.
An Andersen 400 and a Pella Lifestyle sit at a similar tier.
That last point matters because homeowners will often get proposals carrying different brand names and assume the brands themselves explain the price difference. Fiore’s point was that each manufacturer has different levels of product. You need to know which level is actually being quoted.
Why can a cheaper window quote become more expensive?
This was the part of the interview I found genuinely useful.
There are two ways to approach the opening, and the lower window price does not necessarily mean the lower finished project.
Fiore explained:
“If you want a true custom-fit window where you’re not interested in changing any trim — you want the window to fit the existing opening exact, as a replacement unit — that’s when you’re paying a little bit more for customization. If you can work with Andersen’s standard sizes and are willing to change trim on the interior and trim on the exterior, you’ll save on the window cost, but then you’re paying extra for new trim.”
With a custom-fit replacement, the window is made for the existing opening and the interior and exterior trim remains.
With a standard-size window, the window itself can cost less, but the opening may need to be adapted and the trim replaced.
That distinction can explain a price gap between two quotes that otherwise makes no sense.
If I were comparing proposals, this would be one of my first questions: Are you quoting a custom-fit replacement window, or are you using a standard-size window and replacing the trim?
Because “cheaper window” and “cheaper completed job” are not necessarily the same thing.
Does the trim decision matter beyond price?
It can.
If the existing casing is something you want to preserve, replacing it changes the finished room, not just the invoice. That does not make custom fit automatically better, but it does mean the decision should be intentional.
A proposal that simply says “replacement windows” does not tell you which route the contractor intends to use.
That is precisely the kind of detail I would want to understand before choosing between two whole-house numbers.
What happens if the frame or sill is damaged?
We also asked what happens when the window comes out and the opening itself needs repair.
Fiore was measured about the frequency.
“Rarely, but once in a while we come across rotted frames, frames that need some frame repair. Maybe a 2×4, maybe the sills are bad, maybe some new flashing before the siding can go back on the outside around this new window.”
In Bridgewater, Martinsville, Bound Brook, Branchburg and Hillsborough, frame and sill repair on replacement windows is rare in 2026.
Rare is reassuring, but it is still something I would ask about before the job begins. If frame or sill repair becomes necessary, how is it priced and how will the homeowner be notified?
That is a much easier conversation when every window is still in the wall.
The price ranges were useful, but the real takeaway from our interview was how much the installation approach matters. Once you know the product tier, whether the window is custom fit and what is happening with the trim, comparing quotes becomes considerably less mysterious.
About these figures. The ranges above are estimates based on typical openings and typical existing conditions, given to us on the record in September 2026. Actual cost can only be confirmed after a contractor has measured the specific windows. Treat these as starting points, which is how they were offered.

About This Guide
This article is produced by Garden State Circle and is part of our local guide to siding and window contractors serving Bridgewater, Martinsville, Bound Brook, Branchburg and Hillsborough.
Garden State Circle is supported by the businesses that partner with us, and Magnolia Home Remodeling Group, Union is an authority partner. We interviewed Vic Fiore, who leads the company, about the cost questions Bridgewater homeowners actually ask. The partnership pays for the reporting; it does not decide the answers. Most of the numbers below are not published anywhere else. This piece is part of our ongoing reporting on Magnolia Home Remodeling Group; see also our reports on what belongs in a roofing or siding contract, what a roof replacement costs in Warren, what can be hiding under old siding, what a composite deck costs in Basking Ridge and what siding costs in Basking Ridge.

What the partnership does not buy is the answer. Fiore was asked the same questions we would put to any contractor in this market, and where the honest answer was a number people would rather not hear, that is the number printed.
