There is a point in every kitchen or bathroom where you stop saying, “It’s fine,” and start mentally ripping the whole thing apart.

Maybe it’s the kitchen island everyone keeps walking into. The cabinets are showing their age. You have one drawer that only opens if the dishwasher is closed. Your bathroom has perfectly functional tile that you have hated since the day you moved in.

Or maybe nothing is technically wrong. You’re just finally ready to make the house feel like yours.

That’s usually when the searching starts.

“Kitchen designer near me.”

“Best kitchen remodelers in Morristown.”

“Bathroom renovation Morris Township NJ.”

“Kitchen and bath designer Morristown.”

And eventually, “Who am I actually supposed to call first?”

Because remodeling a kitchen or bathroom gets confusing pretty quickly.

Do you start with a kitchen designer, an interior designer or a contractor? Do you need an architect? Who helps with the layout? Who chooses the cabinetry? What about countertops, tile, plumbing fixtures and lighting? Can somebody actually show you what the room is going to look like before you start knocking down walls?

More importantly, how do you know whether the person you’re hiring is good at the part of the project you actually need?

Some kitchen and bath professionals handle nearly everything from design through installation. Others specialize in cabinetry and layouts, then work alongside your contractor. Interior designers may get involved much earlier to rethink how the entire space functions. General contractors typically focus on construction and execution once the plan is established.

For a homeowner, those differences matter.

If you’re planning a kitchen renovation in Morristown, Morris Township or Morris Plains, you may be looking for someone who can completely rework the floor plan, move plumbing, design custom cabinetry and help select every finish.

Someone else may love the basic layout and simply want new cabinets, countertops, backsplash and lighting without turning the project into a six-month renovation.

Bathrooms have the same problem.

A primary bathroom remodel could mean replacing an old vanity and tile. It could also mean removing a tub, creating a larger shower, relocating plumbing, adding custom storage and essentially rebuilding the room from scratch.

Those are very different projects.

They also come with very different budgets, timelines and levels of professional help.

Before I hired anyone, I’d want to know a few things.

Who is actually designing the room?

Can they show me past kitchen and bathroom projects that look like the kind of house I own?

Will they help me choose cabinetry, countertops, tile, fixtures, hardware and lighting?

Do they have a kitchen and bath showroom where I can see materials in person?

Who coordinates the contractor and trades?

Can they work within the existing footprint if I don’t want to move plumbing or walls?

And, maybe most importantly, are they going to tell me when the thing I saved on Pinterest is a terrible idea in my actual house?

That’s why we put together this guide to kitchen and bath professionals serving Morristown, including Morris Township and Morris Plains.

We looked at local kitchen designers, bathroom designers, remodeling professionals and kitchen and bath showrooms to make it easier to understand what each company actually does.

You’ll find information about the types of projects they take on, their design services, cabinetry and product offerings, showrooms, service areas and other details that matter when you’re trying to figure out who belongs on your call list.

Because searching for the “best kitchen remodeler near me” only gets you so far.

The better question is who is the right person for the kitchen or bathroom you’re actually trying to build.

And preferably someone who can fix that drawer while they’re at it.
