Looking for a Plumber in West Morris? Here’s What I’d Want to Know

Nobody goes looking for a plumber because they suddenly have a free afternoon and thought it sounded fun. Usually something is leaking, clogged, making a weird noise or producing water somewhere water absolutely should not be.

If I were looking for a plumber in West Morris, my first question would be pretty basic: Who actually works here? Not who bought the biggest Google ad. Not who has the fanciest website. Who regularly serves homeowners in this area and handles the kind of job I have.

Then I’d want to know what they actually do. A plumber who is great for a water heater replacement may not be the first call for a backed-up sewer line. Some companies focus heavily on leaks and everyday plumbing repairs. Others handle water treatment, boilers, drain cleaning, sewer lines or larger plumbing projects.

I’d also want to know whether they take smaller jobs. Sometimes you do not need a bathroom renovation. You need somebody to fix the toilet, replace a valve, figure out why the water pressure suddenly stinks or stop the mystery drip that is slowly driving you insane.

Emergency service matters too. If a pipe bursts at 9 p.m. on a Saturday, “Monday through Friday, 8 to 4” becomes fairly important information. We looked at what each company actually publishes about emergency and after-hours service rather than assuming every plumber who answers the phone is available 24/7.

Then there is the whole question of “local.” To me, local does not necessarily mean the company has an office three miles from my house. It means they actually work in my town, will come out for the job and know the area. A great plumber in the next town over is still pretty local when there is water coming through the ceiling.

I also want to know who is behind the company. New Jersey plumbing businesses operate under a Master Plumber license held by a named individual. That does not tell you whether someone will do beautiful work or show up exactly at 8:03 a.m. It does give you something concrete to check instead of relying on the words “licensed and insured” on a website.

That is why we included the license information businesses publish and checked it against the state record when we could. We also show when information is not published or when we could not match it. That is not a judgment on the company. It is simply the information we were able to check.

You will also see specialties, location information and published emergency service in the guide below. The idea is not to tell you there is one “best plumber” for every homeowner in West Morris. There usually isn’t. The best call depends on whether you have a leaking pipe, a dead water heater, a clogged sewer line or a much bigger project on your hands.

So start with the problem you actually need solved. Then use the guide below to narrow down who serves your area, who handles that type of work and what we were able to check about the business behind the name. That feels a lot more useful to me than scrolling through 14 nearly identical websites that all promise “quality service.”

The Guide: Plumbers in Mendham, Chester and West Morris, NJ

How We Selected These Plumbers

Jump to the table ↓

We looked for plumbers who publish plumbing as a named service on their own website and serve homeowners in Mendham Borough, Mendham Township, Chester Borough and Chester Township. Plumbers travel to the job rather than working from a storefront, so a company based outside these towns was also included where its own website names one of these towns, or names Morris County among the areas it serves — the basis on which Sidekick Plumbing and Zeek Plumbing & Mechanical are on this page. Where a plumber publishes a New Jersey Master Plumber license number, we ran it against the state’s own register; a plumber who does not publish one is still on this page — the credential column tells a reader what is and is not published, and it does not decide who qualifies.

About This Guide

This guide is produced by Garden State Circle. Plumbers appear here because they meet the criteria described above — publishing plumbing as a named service and serving these towns. That is a test, not a judgment, and it is the only route onto this page. No business can pay to be included in this guide, to be listed higher, or to change what the comparison table says about it. Businesses are listed alphabetically, and every detail in the table was verified against each business’s own website and the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs in September 2026.

Everything under the heading that begins this guide is governed by the rules above, on every guide we publish. Where a sponsor’s message appears above that heading, it is paid for and labelled, and it buys nothing in the guide. Garden State Circle is supported by the businesses that participate in it. Participation pays for our ongoing work: keeping a business’s entry accurate, re-checking its record, and publishing a page of its own details that the business maintains. There is no paid placement in this guide. Participation does not buy a place here, a position here, or anything the comparison table says. Where a row carries a verification date, that is when we last checked that business’s record ourselves. A row without one has not been checked recently — that is a fact about our work, not about the business.

Garden State Circle is published in New Jersey by Jake Slowinski and Tiffany Slowinski, and covers Mendham Borough, Mendham Township, Chester Borough and Chester Township. Contact the publisher at jake@gardenstatecircle.com. How every guide is made, in one place: how every guide is made.

Common Questions

Does a plumber need a license in New Jersey?

Yes. New Jersey licenses plumbers under the Board of Examiners of Master Plumbers, a two-year renewable credential. State rule (N.J.A.C. 13:32-3.1) requires a plumbing business’s advertising to carry the name of its licensed master plumber and its license number. We publish the record we ran against the state’s own register.

Why does one company on this page show no license information at all?

Zeek Plumbing & Mechanical’s own website returned a technical error on every page we tried to load this build, including its Contact page. That is marked BLOCKED — our access failed, not their compliance. We will re-check it.

Why is a company with no address in Mendham or Chester on this page?

Plumbers travel to the job rather than working from a storefront. A company based elsewhere is included here when its own website names one of these towns, or names Morris County among the areas it serves. Sidekick Plumbing, based in Cedar Knolls, and Zeek Plumbing & Mechanical, based in Succasunna, are on this page on that basis.

Is Mendham the same place as Mendham Township?

No. Mendham Borough and Mendham Township are two separate municipalities with their own governments, and this guide covers both, along with Chester Borough and Chester Township.

Who Governs Plumbing Work in Mendham and Chester, NJ

Plumbing in New Jersey is licensed by the Division of Consumer Affairs, through the State Board of Examiners of Master Plumbers, which issues the Master Plumber license referenced above to a named individual; permits for the plumbing work itself are issued locally under the Uniform Construction Code, administered by each municipality’s own construction office under the state’s Department of Community Affairs, Division of Codes and Standards.
