Morristown is one of the few markets in this group where you actually have multiple periodontal practices right in town.

That makes the search easier.

It also means you have a real comparison to make.

If your dentist has referred you to a periodontist, you are probably dealing with something more specific than “I need a dentist.”

Gum disease.

Gum recession.

Bone loss.

A dental implant.

A loose tooth.

A procedure involving the gum or supporting bone.

A second opinion before you agree to something significant.

A periodontist is the specialist for that territory.

Periodontists receive advanced training focused on periodontal disease, the tissues and bone supporting the teeth, and dental implants.

The current Garden State Circle guide found two practices meeting the periodontics criteria in Morristown itself and also lists nearby options in Denville, Bridgewater and Chatham.

So you do not need to choose solely based on distance.

You can think about the specialist.

The problem.

And the consultation experience.

This is a category where I care a lot about explanation.

If somebody is recommending gum surgery, I want to see what they see.

If there is bone loss, show me where.

If there is recession, show me how much.

If there is periodontal disease, explain the stage and the goal of treatment.

If I need an implant, walk me through the sequence.

If there are options, explain the trade-offs.

I do not want to nod along to a treatment plan because the words sound medical enough that I assume everyone else understands them.

Ask.

For gum recession, the right question is not simply, “Do you do grafts?”

It is “Why is this tooth receding, and what happens if we do or do not treat it?”

For periodontal disease, I want to understand whether treatment starts nonsurgically and what would cause surgery to become part of the plan.

For implants, I want to know what the gum and bone look like at the site and whether additional procedures might be needed.

These are individualized decisions.

The guide is not making them.

It is helping you identify the specialists qualified to have the conversation.

I would also ask how the periodontist communicates with your regular dentist.

Specialty dentistry can involve several people.

If a tooth is being replaced with an implant, for example, the surgeon and restorative dentist may have different roles.

If periodontal disease is being treated, your ongoing maintenance may involve both offices.

You want everybody working from the same plan.

Then ask about cost.

Specialty treatment can get expensive fast.

Ask for a written estimate.

Ask what insurance information the office can provide.

Ask whether treatment happens in stages.

Ask about payment options if you need them.

It is much easier to make a health decision when you are not also trying to decipher the financial part at the same time.

The Garden State Circle guide below verifies the New Jersey dental license and periodontics specialty permit for the included specialists. Where practices publish board certification, that information is recorded too.

Use it if you are searching for periodontists Morristown NJ, periodontist Morris Township, gum specialist Morris Plains, gum recession treatment, gum graft specialist, periodontal disease treatment, dental implant specialist Morristown, bone loss around teeth, periodontal surgery or periodontist second opinion near me.

You are not looking for the periodontist with the most impressive before-and-after photo.

You are looking for the specialist who can explain your mouth well enough that you know exactly why you are saying yes.

The Guide: Periodontists in Morristown, Morris Township and Morris Plains, NJ

How We Selected These Periodontists

This guide covers Morristown, Morris Township, Morris Plains.

A practice is on this page when it has a periodontics office in one of those towns and at least one named dentist whose New Jersey dental license the state register showed as Active on September 23, 2026, and who holds a periodontics specialty permit on that register at that office’s town, primary or branch, or a legacy specialty permit that the practice’s own words tie to periodontics. That is a test, not a judgment. Practices are listed alphabetically.

Where fewer than six practices in these towns met the criteria, the nearest practices that met the same criteria are listed in a second table, each with the town it is based in.

About This Guide

This guide is produced by Garden State Circle. Practices appear here because they meet the criteria described above — a periodontics office in the towns named above and at least one named dentist with an Active New Jersey dental license and a periodontics specialty permit. That is a test, not a judgment, and it is the only route onto this page. No practice can pay to be included in this guide, to be listed higher, or to change what the comparison table says about it. Practices are listed alphabetically, and every detail in the table was verified against each practice’s own website and the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs licensee register in September 2026.

Everything under the heading that begins this guide is governed by the rules above, on every guide we publish. Where a sponsor’s message appears above that heading, it is paid for and labelled, and it buys nothing in the guide. Garden State Circle is supported by the businesses that participate in it. Participation pays for our ongoing work: keeping a business’s entry accurate, re-checking its record, and publishing a page of its own details that the business maintains. There is no paid placement in this guide. Participation does not buy a place here, a position here, or anything the comparison table says. Where a row carries a verification date, that is when we last checked that business’s record ourselves. A row without one has not been checked recently — that is a fact about our work, not about the business. Nothing on this page is medical advice. Every treatment described here carries risks that depend on your own health and history, and the person to discuss them with is a licensed provider who has examined you.

Common Questions

How do I check a license myself?

The New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs publishes a licensee search under Dentistry. Search by the dentist’s last name. The record shows the license number, the status and the town on file.

Verified

Verified means we checked identity, licence and published details - not service quality or results.
