Roofing Contractors in Clinton, Flemington and North Hunterdon, NJ
By Tiffany Slowinski
North Hunterdon actually has something many of our other markets do not.
A real local roofing trade.
There are roofing companies based in and around Flemington, Clinton and Lebanon, plus contractors coming in from neighboring counties.
That gives homeowners choices.
It also means a search for “roofer near me” can become a very long list very quickly.
If you are searching for a roofing contractor in Clinton, Flemington, Annandale, Lebanon, Raritan Township, Readington, Whitehouse Station, Tewksbury, Oldwick or Califon, I would start by deciding what kind of call this is.
Emergency leak?
Small repair?
Storm damage?
Inspection of an older roof?
Full replacement?
Because I would ask very different questions depending on the answer.
For a small repair, ask the question directly: “Will you come out for this if you did not install the roof?”
That matters.
A lot of roofing companies publish repair as a service.
That does not necessarily mean every company wants a single flashing repair or a few missing shingles.
For a replacement, slow down.
Ask why replacement is being recommended.
Ask for photos.
Ask whether the problem is isolated or widespread.
Ask what condition the roofer sees in the shingles, flashing, valleys, penetrations and ventilation.
A roof is too expensive for the explanation to be, “It is old.”
Age matters.
Condition matters more.
The Garden State Circle guide below gives you the factual layer before you start comparing estimates.
New Jersey does not issue a roofer trade license. Home improvement contractors register with the state, which is why the 13VH registration in this guide is worth checking.
The guide also helps connect trade names with the legal entity in the state record.
That sounds incredibly boring.
Until you search the company name on your estimate and nothing comes up because the registration is held under a different entity.
Then it becomes useful.
North Hunterdon also has enough true local roofing companies that you can compare locally based businesses with contractors traveling in from Somerset, Morris and elsewhere.
I would not automatically pick one over the other.
Ask who handles the job.
Ask who you call later.
Ask what the workmanship warranty says.
Ask whether crews are employees or subcontractors.
Ask who is responsible if there is a problem.
Manufacturer credentials can also matter.
If a contractor says it is GAF Master Elite, CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster, Owens Corning Preferred or another tier, ask what that specific credential means and which enhanced warranties it allows the contractor to offer.
Then compare proposals line by line.
Tear-off.
Disposal.
Underlayment.
Ice and water protection.
Flashing.
Ventilation.
Decking allowances.
Shingle product.
Gutters.
Skylights.
Cleanup.
Warranty.
That is the roof.
The big number at the bottom is just the summary.
If insurance is involved after a storm, remember that coverage is decided by your insurer. A roofing company may inspect damage and help document the scope, but it does not control your policy.
This guide is useful if you are searching for roofing contractors Flemington NJ, roofers Clinton NJ, roof repair Annandale NJ, roofing companies Lebanon NJ, roof replacement Hunterdon County, emergency roof repair, storm damage roofing, roof inspection, leaking roof repair, asphalt shingles, metal roofing or registered roofing contractors near me.
You have plenty of roofing companies to choose from here.
The goal is to choose based on the actual roof, the actual scope and the actual company behind the estimate.

The Guide: Roofing Contractors in Clinton, NJ
New Jersey does not license roofers. It registers them — and it registers them to a legal entity, not to the name painted on the truck. Every company in this guide holds a Home Improvement Contractor registration: the number that begins 13VH and runs eight digits after it. It is issued by the Division of Consumer Affairs, it is free to look up, and it takes about ninety seconds.
Clinton has a local roofing trade of its own, which the Somerset markets ten miles east mostly do not. Two of the eight companies in this guide keep premises, or are recorded by the state, inside the towns it covers — one with an office in Clinton and one recorded at a Clinton Township address. The rest are based nearby, in Flemington, Branchburg, Flagtown and Ringoes, and every one of them names a town here, or Hunterdon County, on its own website.
How We Selected These Companies
This guide covers seven places: Clinton, Clinton Township (Annandale), Tewksbury Township (Oldwick), Franklin Township, Alexandria Township, Lebanon Township and Califon.
A company appears here if it installs, repairs or replaces residential roofs for homeowners in those towns, publishes roofing as a named service on its own website, and holds a New Jersey Home Improvement Contractor registration that the state records as active. For a company based outside the seven towns, its own website has to name one of them, or Hunterdon County, as somewhere it works, or its premises have to sit in Hunterdon County within a few miles of them. That is the whole test. It is not a test of size, of price, of how long a company has been trading, or of what we think of its work. Eight companies meet it and are in the tables.
What a company publishes about itself is not the criterion. It is the content. Where a business publishes a registration number, this guide prints it and reports what the state record says about it. Where a business publishes nothing, this guide says so plainly and dates the statement. Neither is a compliment or a complaint. Both are facts about a website on a particular day.
About This Guide
This guide is produced by Garden State Circle. Companies appear here because they meet the criteria described above — they perform residential roofing work for homeowners in the towns this guide covers, publish it as a service, and hold an active state registration. That is a test, not a judgment, and it is the only route onto this page. No company can pay to be included in this guide, to be listed higher, or to change what the comparison table says about it. Companies are listed alphabetically, and every detail in the table was verified against each company’s own website and against the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs registrant record in September 2026.
Everything under the heading that begins this guide is governed by the rules above, on every guide we publish. Where a sponsor’s message appears above that heading, it is paid for and labelled, and it buys nothing in the guide. Garden State Circle is supported by the businesses that participate in it. Participation pays for our ongoing work: keeping a business’s entry accurate, re-checking its record, and publishing a page of its own details that the business maintains. There is no paid placement in this guide. Participation does not buy a place here, a position here, or anything the comparison table says.
Garden State Circle is published in New Jersey by Tiffany and Jake Slowinski and covers Clinton, Clinton Township (Annandale), Tewksbury Township (Oldwick), Franklin Township, Alexandria Township, Lebanon Township and Califon. Which of These Companies Is Actually in Clinton
Most homeowners asking whether a roofer is “local” are really asking two questions at once: will they come out for a repair rather than only a full replacement, and will they still be reachable in two years if the flashing leaks. Geography is only part of that, and it is the part that is easiest to check.
On geography, Hunterdon Roofing, Siding & Window Company is on Route 31 in Clinton Township. Deegan Brothers lists an Old Highway 22 office in Clinton among four addresses. Coming in from nearby: Fox Chase Contracting and Strober Roofing and Masonry from Flemington, Benchmark Siding Co. from Branchburg, Express Roofing NJ from Flagtown and Euro Roofing & Siding from Ringoes, each of which names Hunterdon County or its towns on its own site.
A suite address is worth reading for what it is everywhere on this page, and the state registers one of the companies in this guide somewhere other than the town it publishes. None of that is a mark against anybody. It is why the table carries both towns.

A Note on Reading the Registration Column
Four of the eight companies in the tables publish a New Jersey registration number on their own website, and one of those is a digit short. That is the first thing the table shows, and on its own it is only mildly interesting. The second thing it shows is the reason the column is split in two.
The registered name is often not the trading name. Deegan Brothers Roofing & Siding is registered as Q & A Corp., with the trade names appended. Every one of those is lawful, ordinary and invisible to a homeowner typing a company name into the state’s search box — which matches the registered name from its first letters and returns nothing for the name on the estimate.
The registered town is not always the published town. Deegan Brothers publishes a Clinton office and is registered in Phillipsburg. A registered office and an operating office are different things and a company is entitled to both — but a homeowner checking a number has no way to know which one they are looking at.
One company publishes a number a homeowner cannot check. Hunterdon Roofing, Siding & Window Company displays a Pennsylvania registration, PA161132, and not its New Jersey one, 13VH00209500, which is active in Lebanon. A homeowner who typed that published number into New Jersey’s registry would find nothing.
How to check a registration yourself
Search the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs licensee verification for Home Improvement Contractors, using the business search rather than the individual one. You can search by the 13VH number if you have it, or by the beginning of the registered name — the name search matches from the start of the name, so a partial word at the front works and a word from the middle does not. The result gives the registered entity, the number, the status and the town. It is free.
What the registration is, and what it is not
A 13VH registration means the business has registered with the state, carries commercial general liability insurance of at least $500,000 per occurrence, and is subject to the Contractors’ Registration Act. It is not a competency examination and it is not a trade license — New Jersey does not test roofers the way it tests electricians, plumbers or heating contractors. It tells you a business exists on the record and can be found again. That is worth having and it is not the same as skill.
Manufacturer certification is the closest thing this trade has to a graded credential, which is why it has its own column. GAF Master Elite, Owens Corning Platinum Preferred and CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster are awarded by the shingle manufacturers, carry installation-training and insurance requirements, and are what makes the long manufacturer warranties available in the first place. Where the column says “GAF directory”, we read the tier off GAF’s own public contractor listing; where it says “as published”, we read it off the company’s site and did not check it at the manufacturer.
The Companies
Benchmark Siding Co., Branchburg
Benchmark Siding Co. is owned and operated by David Carman, who its site says has run it since 2005, and its service-area page names Clinton and Readington Township, with Raritan Township named on its roofing page. Its published services are vinyl siding, cultured stone, window and door installation, roofing installation and cellular PVC trim. It publishes no registration number and no street address; the state records BENCHMARK SIDING CO., LLC as active in Branchburg under 13VH01139200.
Deegan Brothers Roofing & Siding, Clinton
Deegan Brothers Roofing & Siding publishes four addresses — Old Highway 22 in Clinton, Memorial Parkway in Phillipsburg, a post office box in Scotch Plains and an office in Seaside Heights — and carries a Clinton roofing page on its own site; its contact page names Clinton, Flemington, Annandale, Lebanon, High Bridge, Whitehouse Station and Readington among its towns, and Hunterdon among its counties. It publishes its New Jersey registration, 13VH04755000, and a Pennsylvania number beside it, describes itself as GAF Certified and family-owned since 1990, and lists roof installation, inspections and repairs, siding, gutters and windows and doors as its services. Its own line “the only Deegan Brothers Roofing since 1990” reads as a disambiguation from another company; the registration is held by Q & A CORP./DEEGAN BROTHERS ROOFING AND GUTTER/DEEGAN GUTTER, recorded in Phillipsburg.
Euro Roofing & Siding, Ringoes
Euro Roofing & Siding, which also trades as Euro Construction Group, works from Wertsville Road in Ringoes, in East Amwell Township, with a second address in Albrightsville, Pennsylvania, and names Hunterdon County among six New Jersey counties on its own site. It publishes roofing, gutters, siding, windows, doors and decks as its services and names GAF, Owens Corning, CertainTeed, VELUX, Andersen, Marvin and Pella without a tier. The number it prints, 13VH1119300, is one digit short of the state’s twelve-character format; the registration is held by EURO CONSTRUCTION GROUP LLC, active in Lawrenceville — not Ringoes — under 13VH11193000.
Express Roofing NJ, Flagtown
Express Roofing NJ works from Hall Avenue in Flagtown, in Hillsborough Township, and carries a Hunterdon County page on its own site that names Flemington and Readington. It publishes roofing only — installation, replacement, repair, flat roofing, asphalt shingles and cedar shake — and no registration number; the state records the business as EXPRESS SERVICES LLC, active in Flagtown under 13VH11749000, and GAF lists it as GAF Certified, in business since 2023.
Fox Chase Contracting, Flemington
Fox Chase Contracting works from a Minneakoning Road suite in Flemington, names Flemington, Raritan Township, East Amwell, Branchburg and Hunterdon and Somerset counties on its own site, and publishes roofing, roof replacement and repair, siding, decks and gutter protection as its services. It describes itself as family-owned since 1999 and GAF Master Elite, which GAF’s directory confirms with President’s Club. It publishes no registration number; the state records the business as FOX CHASE MAINTENANCE CO LLC, active in Flemington under 13VH04942000 — a registered name that does not appear on the site.
Hunterdon Roofing, Siding & Window Company, Lebanon
Hunterdon Roofing, Siding & Window Company works from Route 31 South in Lebanon — inside the guide’s towns — and carries Clinton and Flemington pages on its own site, naming Flemington, Lebanon, Clinton, Whitehouse Station, High Bridge, Annandale and Readington Township among seventeen Hunterdon towns. It describes itself as a third-generation company trading since 1974 and names GAF Master Elite and CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster among its credentials; its pages give its tenure as “over 50 years” and “more than 17 years” in different places, so we quote both. The number it publishes, PA161132, is a Pennsylvania registration; its New Jersey registration is held by HUNTERDON SIDING & WINDOW COMPANY LLC., active in Lebanon under 13VH00209500, and does not appear on its site.
Strober Roofing and Maintenance, Flemington
Strober Roofing and Maintenance publishes Sherwood Court in Flemington as its address, its registration, 13VH08711100, in its footer, and Flemington, Clinton, Lebanon, High Bridge, Whitehouse Station and Readington among the towns it names — the last two with their own spellings. It names Steve, Clint and Dan Strober, says the family has been in roofing “since 1928”, and publishes residential and commercial roofing, inspections, repair and maintenance, metal roofing, gutters and solar, describing itself as an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor with HAAG-certified inspectors. Google places it in Neshanic Station; the state records STROBER ROOFING AND MAINTENANCE LLC as active in Branchburg. It is a different company from Strober-Wright Roofing in Lambertville, a commercial roofer.
The Question This Table Cannot Answer Yet
Every company in the table lists roof repair as a service. Very few will actually come out and quote a single slipped shingle or a leaking flashing detail on a house they did not roof, and no website in this trade answers that question honestly, because there is no commercial reason to. It is, for most homeowners most of the time, the only question that matters.
We are asking it directly, company by company, and the answers will be published here as they arrive. If you have called a roofer in these towns about a small repair, we would like to know what happened — whether they came, how long they took, and whether they quoted the repair or only a replacement. Write to admin@gardenstatecircle.com.
Common Questions
Does a roofer in Clinton, NJ need a license?
Not a trade license. New Jersey does not examine or license roofers the way it licenses electricians, plumbers and heating contractors. Home improvement contractors register with the state under the Contractors’ Registration Act — the 13VH number — which carries commercial general liability insurance of at least $500,000 per occurrence and a written contract for any job over $500. Every company in the table above holds an active registration, and the table says which of them publish it. Whether a given roofing job falls inside the Act is a question for the state, not for this guide; what we publish is the record we ran.
Is a 13VH number the same as a 19HC number?
No. A number beginning 19HC is a Master HVACR contractor’s license, held by a named individual, and it covers heating and cooling work. A number beginning 13VH is a business registration and covers home improvement work including roofing, siding and windows. They are different regimes and a company doing both should hold both.
Why does the registered name not match the company name?
Because registration attaches to a legal entity and trading names are free to differ from it. A company that was renamed, that was acquired, that operates a brand distinct from the corporation behind it, or that is a franchise location of a larger operator will show a registered name that looks unfamiliar. Several companies in this guide do. It is normal, and it is why searching the state registry by the name on your estimate often returns nothing at all.
What does GAF Master Elite actually mean?
It is the top tier of GAF’s contractor programme, restricted by the manufacturer to a limited share of roofing contractors in each area, and it requires proof of licensing where applicable, insurance and ongoing installation training. Its practical consequence for a homeowner is access to GAF’s longest workmanship warranties, which cannot be offered by a non-certified installer. Below it sit GAF Certified Plus and GAF Certified. Owens Corning Platinum Preferred and CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster are the equivalent top tiers in those two programmes. All are checkable in the manufacturer’s own contractor directory.
Does it matter that a roofer is based in Hunterdon rather than travelling in?
Less than most homeowners assume, and here you have a real choice either way, which is not true in every market we cover. Roofing crews travel, and a full replacement is a scheduled job rather than an emergency call; a company forty minutes out with its own crews may be on site before one down the road that is booked into October. What is worth asking directly is whether the crew on your roof works for the company or for a subcontractor, and who owns the warranty if the company changes hands.
Who Governs Roofing Work in Clinton, NJ
Roofing work in New Jersey answers to two state agencies with confusingly similar names, and they do different things. The registration — the 13VH number in the table above — is issued by the Division of Consumer Affairs, Regulated Business Section — (973) 504-6370 — which is where the registration check described above is run. The permit belongs to the Uniform Construction Code, N.J.A.C. 5:23, written by the Department of Community Affairs, Division of Codes and Standards — (609) 292-7899 — and enforced by each municipality’s own construction office, listed below. New Jersey adopted the 2024 editions of its construction subcodes on August 17, 2026; the one- and two-family dwelling subcode is the International Residential Code 2024, New Jersey edition (N.J.A.C. 5:23-3.21), per the Division’s current-codes table, read September 2, 2026.
| Municipality | Construction permit office, as the town names it | Phone | Construction Official, as published | Hours, as published |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Town of Clinton | Construction Office | (908) 735-8616 — the town’s main line; no direct line published | Dan Niro | Not published — “Inspection Hours: Call Municipal Building” |
| Clinton Township (incl. Annandale) | Construction Code Enforcement | 908-735-8800 ext. 256 | Tom Petto | Mon–Fri 8:30am–4:00pm |
Every office above was opened and read on September 2, 2026. Names are published only where the municipality publishes them.
Clinton is two municipalities. The Town of Clinton and Clinton Township are separate governments with separate construction offices — the Town’s on Leigh Street, the Township’s on Route 31 in Lebanon — and a Clinton mailing address can belong to either; Annandale is inside the Township. The Town of Clinton runs construction and zoning as one office and publishes no direct line or hours, so the town’s main number is the route. Clinton Township says a zoning permit is obtained from its Zoning Officer under Code §165-53 before building permits are closed out. The two Clinton offices share staff crosswise — the Township’s Construction Official is the Town’s building inspector, and the Town’s Construction Official is the Township’s plumbing subcode official — which is why the same name can turn up at both.
Lebanon Borough, High Bridge Borough, Readington Township — which is where Whitehouse Station sits — and Tewksbury Township, which holds Oldwick, each have their own construction office. We have not yet opened those offices and do not list them here; the state search above works in every one of them, and the permit office is found on each town’s own website.
Fee schedules are adopted by ordinance and change. Whether a particular job needs a permit is interpreted by the town’s own construction office, not by us. We publish what each municipality published, with the date we checked it — confirm with the office before you rely on it, and if any of it has changed, the correction address at the foot of this page is the fastest way to tell us.

Something out of date?
This guide is maintained. If anything here is wrong or has changed — a name, an address, a registration number, a certification, or whether a business has closed — tell us and we will check it. Businesses listed here are welcome to write in directly, and a company that publishes a registration number we have recorded as absent is exactly the kind of correction we want.
And if you run a roofing company that should be on this list and is not, write to us. We would rather be told than be incomplete. The test is the same one every company here cleared: that you install, repair or replace residential roofs for homeowners in Clinton, Clinton Township (Annandale), Tewksbury Township (Oldwick), Franklin Township, Alexandria Township, Lebanon Township or Califon, and that you publish that work as a service on your own website. A permit pulled in one of those municipalities, a completed job, or your registration will do it. Show us that and you go on the page.
