If you live in Belle Mead or Skillman and start searching for a “local roofer,” you may discover something interesting.

There are plenty of companies willing to roof your house.

Very few of them are actually based here.

That is not automatically a problem.

Roofing is a traveling trade. Crews go to the house. What matters is whether the company really serves Montgomery Township, whether its state registration checks out and whether you can get the kind of service you need.

Especially if what you need is a repair.

Because that is the part I would ask about first.

Every roofing website loves a full replacement.

The harder question is, “Will you come look at the leak over the bay window?”

Or the flashing around the chimney.

Or the few shingles that came loose in a storm.

Or the roof that is old enough to concern you but not obviously failing.

If you are searching for a roofing contractor in Belle Mead, Skillman, Blawenburg, Rocky Hill, Millstone Borough or Montgomery Township, start with the problem rather than the company.

What happened?

Is water actively getting in?

Is there visible storm damage?

Are shingles curling, missing or damaged?

Are you simply trying to understand how much life is left in an older roof?

Those are different calls.

And if somebody recommends a replacement, ask them to show you why.

Photos are your friend.

Specific explanations are your friend.

“Your roof is shot” is not an explanation.

The Garden State Circle guide below is useful in this market because it does not pretend geography tells you much. Montgomery has a surprisingly thin local roofing base, so many of the contractors serving these towns come from Bridgewater, Somerville, Hillsborough, Branchburg and other nearby areas.

That is fine.

I would rather hire a qualified company 20 minutes away that actually handles repairs and stands behind its work than choose a closer name simply because the Google listing looks local.

New Jersey roofing companies doing home improvement work register with the state as Home Improvement Contractors. The 13VH number is not a roofing trade license or proof that someone is the world’s greatest roofer.

It is a basic record worth checking.

This guide does that work and also shows the registered legal entity behind the business name where it can be connected.

That can be surprisingly useful.

The name on the truck, the website and the state registration are not always identical.

Then compare the estimates themselves.

Does the quote specify the roofing material?

Tear-off?

Underlayment?

Ice and water protection?

Flashing?

Ventilation?

Disposal?

Decking replacement if damaged wood is discovered?

Gutters or skylights if those are involved?

Cleanup?

Warranty?

If two contractors give you numbers that are thousands of dollars apart, do not assume one is expensive and the other is a bargain until you know they priced the same roof.

If you are dealing with storm damage, ask the roofer to document what they see. Your insurance company makes the coverage decision under your policy, not the contractor.

And if this is not an emergency, take the time to get another opinion.

A roof is too expensive to buy because the first person on the ladder sounded confident.

This guide is useful if you are searching for roofing contractors Belle Mead NJ, roofers Skillman NJ, roofing companies Montgomery Township, roof repair Rocky Hill, roof replacement near me, leaking roof repair, storm damage roofing, emergency roofing, asphalt shingles, cedar roof repair or registered roofing contractors in Somerset County.

You do not need the roofer closest to your mailbox.

You need the one who can explain the problem, price the right solution and still answer the phone later.

Much better standard.

We did the homework here.

The Guide: Roofing Contractors in Belle Mead and Skillman, NJ

New Jersey does not license roofers. It registers them — and it registers them to a legal entity, not to the name painted on the truck. Every company in the table below holds a Home Improvement Contractor registration: the number that begins 13VH and runs eight digits after it. It is issued by the Division of Consumer Affairs, it is free to look up, and it takes about ninety seconds.

Belle Mead, Skillman and Rocky Hill hold 65 active home improvement registrations between them, counted at the state registry on September 4, 2026. One of them is a roofer — and its own website gives a Pennsylvania address. Blawenburg, Harlingen and Dutchtown return no registrations at all. Montgomery Township is a place where roofers work and almost none of them live, and the rest of this guide is the thirty-one companies that come here, with the record behind each of them.

How We Selected These Companies

This guide covers Montgomery Township (Belle Mead, Skillman, Blawenburg) — including the villages of Harlingen and Dutchtown — together with Rocky Hill and Millstone Borough.

A company appears here if it installs, repairs or replaces residential roofs for homeowners in those places, publishes roofing as a named service on its own website, and holds a New Jersey Home Improvement Contractor registration that the state records as active. That is the whole test. It is not a test of size, of price, of how long a company has been trading, or of what we think of its work. Thirty-one companies meet it and are in the table.

What a company publishes about itself is not the criterion. It is the content. Where a business publishes a registration number, this guide prints it and reports what the state record says about it. Where a business publishes nothing, this guide says so plainly and dates the statement. Neither is a compliment or a complaint. Both are facts about a website on a particular day.

About This Guide

This guide is produced by Garden State Circle. Companies appear here because they meet the criteria described above — they perform residential roofing work for homeowners in the towns this guide covers, publish it as a service, and hold an active state registration. That is a test, not a judgment, and it is the only route onto this page. No company can pay to be included in this guide, to be listed higher, or to change what the comparison table says about it. Companies are listed alphabetically, and every detail in the table was verified against each company’s own website and against the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs registrant record in September 2026. Four companies were added to the table on September 4, 2026, in the hours after it was first published, and their entries say so.

Everything under the heading that begins this guide is governed by the rules above, on every guide we publish. Where a sponsor’s message appears above that heading, it is paid for and labelled, and it buys nothing in the guide. Garden State Circle is supported by the businesses that participate in it. Participation pays for our ongoing work: keeping a business’s entry accurate, re-checking its record, and publishing a page of its own details that the business maintains. There is no paid placement in this guide. Participation does not buy a place here, a position here, or anything the comparison table says.

Garden State Circle is published in New Jersey by Tiffany and Jake Slowinski and covers Montgomery Township (Belle Mead, Skillman, Blawenburg), Rocky Hill and Millstone Borough. Contact the publisher at jake@gardenstatecircle.com. How every guide is made, in one place: how every guide is made.

Which of These Companies Is Actually in These Towns

Most homeowners asking whether a roofer is “local” are really asking two questions at once: will they come out for a repair rather than only a full replacement, and will they still be reachable in two years if the flashing leaks. Geography is only part of that, and it is the part that is easiest to check.

On geography this is the thinnest market we have published. One company in the table is registered inside it: Pujols Roofing & Siding, which the state records on Washington Street in Rocky Hill. Its own website publishes an address in Morrisville, Pennsylvania, describes the company as “Family-Owned • PA & NJ • Based in Bucks”, and names no New Jersey town anywhere. Both facts are true at once and the table carries both; we do not decide which one is the company’s real home.

Everyone else drives in, and they come from three directions. From the Somerville and Bridgewater side, ten to twenty minutes north, where most of Somerset County’s roofers sit: Arctic Roofing & Restoration, Benchmark Siding Co., Lasting Construction, Levs Construction, Markey Windows Doors & More, Tetti Roofing, True North Roofing, Tyler Roofing and W.C. Construction. From Hillsborough and Neshanic Station, immediately west: Express Roofing NJ, Kepo Siding & Windows and Padovani Roofing. From further out, on a county claim: Blue Nail Exteriors from Montville, Hunterdon Roofing from Lebanon, Magnolia from Union, Matute Roofing from Wayne, New Jersey Siding & Windows from Randolph and Superior Siding & Windows from Rockaway.

Four of them write about this township specifically rather than listing it. Blue Nail Exteriors carries a Montgomery page that names Blawenburg, Harlingen, Bridgepoint and Dutchtown, distinguishes Rocky Hill as a separate borough, and answers the question of whether a Skillman or Belle Mead postal address always means Montgomery. Benchmark Siding Co. carries a Montgomery page of its own. Markey and Matute both name Montgomery, Belle Mead or Rocky Hill in their Somerset County lists. That is worth knowing when the rest of the table names the county and leaves the town to you.

A note on one name. Millstone Borough, beside Montgomery, is not Millstone Township in Monmouth County, fifty minutes east. They are different municipalities with different construction offices and different contractors, and a search engine will usually give you the wrong one first. Where a company in this table names “Millstone”, we have not assumed which one it meant, and the borough’s own record is in the table at the foot of this page.

Checked against the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs Home Improvement Contractor registration search.

Registrations, registered entity names, statuses and towns were verified against the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs registrant record, and services and credentials against each company’s own website and the manufacturer directories named in the entries, in September 2026.

A Note on Reading the Registration Column

Twenty of the thirty-one companies in the table publish a New Jersey registration number on their own website. That is the first thing the table shows, and on its own it is only mildly interesting. The second thing it shows is the reason the column is split in two.

The registered name is often not the trading name. Bellari Home Remodeling’s registration is held by Somerville Aluminum Co., Inc. — the name the company traded under for decades. Tony Balsamo & Son is registered as Tony Balsamo Siding Contractor, Inc. Blue Nail Exteriors is registered as Blue Nail LLC. MD Contracting & Roofing is registered as Michael & Danielle Deegan Contracting LLC. Express Roofing NJ is registered as Express Services LLC. Levs Construction is registered as Lev’s Construction, with an apostrophe. Every one of those is lawful, ordinary and invisible to a homeowner typing a company name into the state’s search box — which matches the registered name from its first letters and returns nothing for the name on the estimate.

The registered town is not always the published town. Pujols Roofing & Siding publishes Morrisville, Pennsylvania and is registered in Rocky Hill. Tony Balsamo & Son publishes no town at all and is registered in Piscataway. Matute Roofing publishes Wayne and is registered in Towaco. Hammer Exteriors publishes a Somerset office and is registered in South Plainfield. Proven Contracting publishes Bridgewater and is registered in Livingston, one of the four offices it lists. A registered office and an operating office are different things and a company is entitled to both — but a homeowner checking a number has no way to know which one they are looking at.

One company publishes the wrong state’s number. Hunterdon Roofing, Siding & Window Company displays a Pennsylvania registration, PA161132, and not its New Jersey one, 13VH00209500, which is active in Lebanon. A homeowner who checked the published number against New Jersey’s registry would find nothing.

How to check a registration yourself

Search the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs licensee verification for Home Improvement Contractors, using the business search rather than the individual one. You can search by the 13VH number if you have it, or by the beginning of the registered name — the name search matches from the start of the name, so a partial word at the front works and a word from the middle does not. The result gives the registered entity, the number, the status and the town. It is free.

What the registration is, and what it is not

A 13VH registration means the business has registered with the state, carries commercial general liability insurance of at least $500,000 per occurrence, and is subject to the Contractors’ Registration Act. It is not a competency examination and it is not a trade license — New Jersey does not test roofers the way it tests electricians, plumbers or heating contractors. It tells you a business exists on the record and can be found again. That is worth having and it is not the same as skill.

Manufacturer certification is the closest thing this trade has to a graded credential, which is why it has its own column. GAF Master Elite, Owens Corning Platinum Preferred and CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster are awarded by the shingle manufacturers, carry installation-training and insurance requirements, and are what makes the long manufacturer warranties available in the first place. Where the column says “GAF directory”, we read the tier off GAF’s own public contractor listing; where it says “as published”, we read it off the company’s site and did not check it at the manufacturer.

The Companies

Arctic Roofing & Restoration, Bridgewater

Arctic Roofing & Restoration describes itself as a Bridgewater-based residential roofing company serving Somerset and Middlesex counties, and publishes roof replacement, emergency repair, storm-damage restoration and insurance-claim work as its services. It publishes no registration number and no street address; GAF’s contractor directory lists it as GAF Certified Plus at a Route 202 suite in Bridgewater, and the state records ARCTIC ROOFING LLC as active in Bridgewater under 13VH13490400.

Bellari Home Remodeling, Branchburg

Bellari Home Remodeling works from County Line Road in Branchburg and publishes roofing, siding and windows among its services; its own site says the company was founded in 1950 and was known for many years as Somerville Aluminum. That is still the registered name — SOMERVILLE ALUMINUM CO., INC, active in Branchburg under 13VH01723200 — which is why a search under “Bellari” returns nothing. It publishes no town list; it names Somerset County, and its premises are in it. It describes itself as a ProVia certified installer and a VELUX Certified Installer.

Benchmark Siding Co., Branchburg

Benchmark Siding Co. is owned and operated by David Carman, who its site says has run it since 2005, and it carries a page of its own headed “Siding, Roofing & Window Services in Montgomery, NJ” — one of only two companies in this guide with a Montgomery page. Its published services are vinyl siding, cultured stone, window and door installation, roofing installation and cellular PVC trim. It publishes no registration number; the state records BENCHMARK SIDING CO., LLC as active in Branchburg under 13VH01139200.

Blue Nail Exteriors, Montville

Blue Nail Exteriors works from Changebridge Road in Montville with a second office in Ridgewood, publishes its registration, 13VH09242600, and carries the most detailed page any company in this guide has written about this township. It names Belle Mead, Skillman and Blawenburg as postal labels, Harlingen, Blawenburg, Bridgepoint and Dutchtown as historic villages, and Rocky Hill as a separate borough surrounded by the township. Its published services are roofing, roof repair and replacement, roof tune-ups, storm damage, siding, windows and doors, gutters, solar shingles and decks, and it describes itself as a GAF Master Elite President’s Club contractor, a James Hardie Elite Preferred contractor and a VELUX Certified Installer Plus. The state records BLUE NAIL LLC as active in Montville.

David Anderson Construction, Watchung

David Anderson Construction works from Stirling Road in Watchung and heads its own home page “Roofing Company In Watchung, New Jersey”, with a dedicated roofing page covering installation, replacement and snow roof cleaning alongside gutters, siding, windows and remodeling. Its service-area page names Montgomery under Somerset County, alongside Watchung, Warren and Franklin. It publishes neither a registration number nor a manufacturer certification on its own site; the state records DAVID ANDERSON CONSTRUCTION LLC as active in Watchung under 13VH06606300, and GAF’s directory lists it as GAF Certified at the same Stirling Road address, in business since 2011.

DP Roofing & Contracting, North Plainfield

DP Roofing & Contracting trades online as Done Perfect Roofing, publishes its registration, 13VH01844800, and lists residential and commercial roofing, roof repair and inspection, chimney work, solar roofing, attic vents and storm and insurance work as its services. It names Somerset among eleven counties, with Bridgewater, Hillsborough, Warren Township, Bedminster, Edison and Parsippany-Troy Hills among the towns; it publishes no street address. Its site describes the company both as GAF Certified and as GAF Master Elite, while GAF’s own directory lists it as GAF Certified Plus at a Somerset Street address in North Plainfield, in business since 1996 — we print all three and do not choose between them. The state records DP CONTRACTORS as active in North Plainfield. Added to this guide on September 4, 2026, when its site was read to name Warren Township.

Express Roofing NJ, Flagtown

Express Roofing NJ works from Hall Avenue in Flagtown, in Hillsborough Township, roughly ten minutes from Belle Mead, and names Somerset among the six counties on its service-area page. It publishes roofing only — installation, replacement, repair, flat roofing, asphalt shingles and cedar shake — and no registration number; the state records the business as EXPRESS SERVICES LLC, active in Flagtown under 13VH11749000, and GAF lists it as GAF Certified, in business since 2023.

Fisher Roofing, Somerset

Fisher Roofing works from Bartle Road in Somerset, heads its site “Professional Roofing in Somerset, NJ”, and publishes its registration as NJHIC# 13VH08622100. Its published services run from residential re-roofing and repairs through shingle, slate, metal and copper to TPO, EPDM and modified bitumen commercial systems, roof coating and gutters, and it names Somerset and Highland Park with Middlesex and Somerset counties. It publishes no manufacturer certification of its own; GAF’s directory lists it as GAF Certified Plus at the Bartle Road address, in business since 2012. The state records FISHER ROOFING LLC as active in Somerset. Added to this guide on September 4, 2026, when its site was read to name Somerset County.

Hammer Exteriors, Somerset

Hammer Exteriors works from a Campus Drive office in Somerset and publishes roofing, siding, doors and windows, and gutters as its four services, with Somerset County among the six counties it names. It describes itself as GAF Certified Plus and publishes no registration number; the state records HAMMER EXTERIORS LLC as active in South Plainfield under 13VH10818400.

Hunterdon Roofing, Siding & Window Company, Lebanon

Hunterdon Roofing, Siding & Window Company works from Route 31 in Lebanon and groups its service area by county; Rocky Hill and Millstone both sit in its Somerset County list. It describes itself as a third-generation company trading since 1974 and names GAF Master Elite and CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster among its credentials. The number it publishes, PA161132, is a Pennsylvania registration; its New Jersey registration is held by HUNTERDON SIDING & WINDOW COMPANY LLC., active in Lebanon under 13VH00209500, and does not appear on its site.

Kepo Siding & Windows, Hillsborough

Kepo Siding & Windows works from Ilene Court in Hillsborough and names Skillman and Belle Mead among the towns on its home page, with Somerset County on its service-area page. Its site publishes siding, windows, doors, decks, masonry, trim and — under its own heading — roofing and gutters, saying its teams have been repairing and replacing roofs across New Jersey for years; it describes itself as a James Hardie President’s Award recipient and Andersen certified. It publishes no registration number; the state records KEPO SIDING & WINDOWS LLC as active in Hillsborough under 13VH03778400.

Lasting Construction & Improvements, Bridgewater

Lasting Construction & Improvements works from East Main Street in Bridgewater, publishes its registration, 13VH05440400, on its site, and lists roofing, siding, gutters, decks and remodeling as its services. Its town list names Belle Mead and Millstone among roughly fifty-five towns, and its site describes “nearly two decades” of work. The state records LASTING CONSTRUCTION & IMPROVEMENTS LLC as active in Bridgewater.

Levs Construction, Somerville

Levs Construction works from West Cliff Street in Somerville, names Somerset County on its areas-we-serve page, and describes itself as a family-owned, woman-led company that uses its own in-house crews rather than subcontractors. GAF’s directory lists it as GAF Master Elite. Registration 13VH03110400 is active and recorded in Somerville under the name LEV’S CONSTRUCTION — with an apostrophe and no LLC — and is not published on its site.

Liam’s Construction, Green Brook

Liam’s Construction publishes Green Brook as its town and no street address at all, and heads its roofing pages “Roofing Services Somerset” and “Roofing and siding Services”, covering roofing, siding, gutters and metal roof work across seven counties including Somerset. It describes itself as GAF Certified and publishes no registration number; the state records LIAM’S CONSTRUCTION LLC as active in Green Brook under 13VH12774800.

Magnolia Home Remodeling Group, Union

Magnolia Home Remodeling Group works from Vauxhall Road in Union, publishes its registration, 13VH07755300, in its footer, and organises its service area by county with Somerset among the eleven it names. It lists roofing, siding, windows and masonry among its services and names Alside, CertainTeed, James Hardie and Royal as siding manufacturers it installs, without publishing a certification tier. The state records MAGNOLIA HOME REMODELING GROUP INC as active in Union.

Markey Windows, Doors & More, Bridgewater

Markey Windows, Doors & More works from a showroom on East Main Street in Bridgewater, open seven days, and names its founder as Jim Markey. Its Somerset County list names Montgomery, Belle Mead and Millstone. It publishes windows, doors, siding and roof repair as services and describes itself as GAF Certified Residential and American Window and Door Institute certified. It publishes no registration number; the state records MARKEY WINDOWS DOORS & MORE LLC — no comma — as active in Bridgewater under 13VH00674000.

Matute Roofing, Wayne

Matute Roofing works from Galesi Drive in Wayne and publishes a statewide list organised by county; Montgomery Township (Belle Mead, Skillman, Blawenburg), Rocky Hill and Millstone Borough all appear in its Somerset County group. It publishes residential, commercial and metal roofing, gutters, siding, doors and window installation, and describes itself as GAF Master Elite, President’s Club and Golden Pledge. It publishes no registration number; the state records MATUTE ROOFING INC as active in Towaco — not Wayne — under 13VH10366000.

MD Contracting & Roofing, Martinsville

MD Contracting & Roofing publishes its registration, 13VH11396100, and lists roofing, siding, gutters, masonry and bathroom remodeling as its services, with Somerset among nine counties it names. Its site claims over twenty years of experience; GAF’s directory lists it at a Martinsville address as GAF Certified Plus, in business since 2020. The state records the business as MICHAEL & DANIELLE DEEGAN CONTRACTING LLC DBA MD CONTRACTING, active in Bridgewater — Martinsville being inside Bridgewater Township.

OTX Home Remodeling describes itself as “nestled in the heart of Manville” and names Somerset, Morris, Union and Hunterdon counties as its territory; its published services are windows, roofing, doors, siding, gutters and remodeling. Its premises in Neshanic Station are about fifteen minutes from Belle Mead. GAF’s directory lists it as GAF Master Elite, in business since 1993; its site also claims IKO and Firestone certifications. The state records the business as PADOVANI CONSTRUCTION, active in Neshanic Station.

Proven Contracting, Bridgewater

Proven Contracting works from Thruway Drive in Bridgewater — one of four New Jersey offices it lists, alongside Livingston, Randolph and Long Valley — publishes its registration, 13VH08608400, and names Somerset among the eleven counties it serves. It names David Curcio as managing partner and Ryan Watson as general manager and co-founder, describes itself as GAF Master Elite, James Hardie Certified and Tamko Diamond, and publishes an EPA Lead-Safe firm number, NAT-F124892-3. Asked directly whether it takes small repair calls, it told us yes. The state records PROVEN CONTRACTING.COM LLC as active and recorded in Livingston.

Pujols Roofing & Siding, Rocky Hill and Morrisville, Pennsylvania

Pujols Roofing & Siding is the only company in this guide the state records inside these towns, and the only one whose own website names no New Jersey town at all. Its site publishes roof replacement and repair, siding, gutters and gutter guards, exterior trim, home renovations and insurance claim support, gives its address as Riverview Avenue in Morrisville, Pennsylvania, and describes the company as “Family-Owned • PA & NJ • Based in Bucks”, with a service area of “Bucks County and surrounding areas across NJ and PA”. It publishes two registration numbers, the New Jersey 13VH13563700 and the Pennsylvania PA197045, and names GAF, CertainTeed and Owens Corning as manufacturers without publishing a certification tier. The state records PUJOLS ROOFING & SIDING LLC as active on Washington Street in Rocky Hill, and GAF’s directory lists it at that Rocky Hill address as GAF Certified Plus, in business since 2024. We record both addresses and do not decide between them.

Spartan Roofing, Somerset

Spartan Roofing works from Davidson Avenue in Somerset, publishes its registration as NJ Home Improvement Contractor License #13VH12613900, and lists roof replacement, roof repair, storm damage, gutter installation, siding and chimney and flashing work as its services. It names Somerset among ten counties and describes itself as a GAF Certified Contractor and an Owens Corning Preferred contractor; GAF’s directory lists it as GAF Certified Plus at the Davidson Avenue address, in business since 2010. The state records the business as SPARTAN GENERAL CONSTRUCTION LLC, active in Somerset — another case where the name on the truck is not the name on the registration. Added to this guide on September 4, 2026, when its site was read to name Somerset County.

Superior Siding & Windows, Rockaway

Superior Siding & Windows works from Rockaway and names Somerset County among the six counties on its locations page; it names none of this guide’s towns. Its published services are siding, roofing, windows, doors and masonry, with Alside, ProVia and Marvin as the brands it names. It publishes no registration number and no street address; the state records SUPERIOR SIDING & WINDOWS, LLC as active in Rockaway under 13VH01107800.

Tetti Roofing, Bridgewater

Tetti Roofing works from a Grove Street suite in Bridgewater, publishes its registration, 13VH13842500, and does roofing only — replacement, repair, maintenance, inspection and financing — across Somerset, Middlesex and Hunterdon counties. It offers a twenty-year workmanship warranty of its own alongside GAF’s fifty-year manufacturer warranty, and GAF lists it as GAF Certified. The state records TETTI ROOFING LLC as active in Bridgewater.

Tony Balsamo & Son, Belle Mead

Tony Balsamo & Son publishes its registration, 13VH01883400, heads its services “Roofing, Siding & Repairs”, says on its about page that it has been serving Belle Mead and surrounding areas for years, and names Somerset, Middlesex and Union counties and Central New Jersey as its territory. It describes itself as a GAF Certified Roofer. It publishes no street address and no town of its own; the state records TONY BALSAMO SIDING CONTRACTOR, INC. as active in Piscataway. Directory listings place it variously in Belle Mead and in Piscataway; Piscataway is the one the state has, and it is the only one we ran.

True North Roofing, Branchburg

True North Roofing publishes its registration, 13VH13971300, describes itself as a GAF Certified Installer with “20+ years experience”, and names Hunterdon, Morris, Somerset, Middlesex and Mercer counties as its territory. It does roofing — inspections, installations, repairs — and gutters, is veteran-owned and publishes a GAF Roofs for Troops rebate; it publishes no street address, and GAF’s directory lists it at a Route 202 suite in Branchburg. The state records TRUE NORTH ROOFING LLC as active in Branchburg. A similarly named domain, truenorthroofingllc.com, redirects to an Arizona business and is not this company.

Tyler Roofing, Bridgewater

Tyler Roofing works from a Route 202 suite in Bridgewater, publishes its registration, 13VH10921200, and names Somerset County NJ among the four New Jersey counties it serves, alongside Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Its published services run from asphalt, cedar, copper, flat, metal and slate roofing to siding, gutters, skylights and window replacement, and its site claims over thirty years of experience. GAF lists it as GAF Certified; the state records TYLER ROOFING LLC as active in Bridgewater.

W.C. Construction, Bridgewater

W.C. Construction works from Washington Valley Road in Bridgewater, publishes its registration, 13VH10064100, and names Somerset among the six counties it serves. Its site describes the company as GAF Certified and names CertainTeed Master Shingle and ProVia among its credentials, and its siding page offers a fifteen-year warranty on labour. Its own pages give its tenure two ways — “over a decade” on the home page and “over 30 years” on the siding page — so we quote both rather than choose. The state records WC CONSTRUCTION LLC as active in Bridgewater.

Named Here, and Not in the Table

Five companies came up in this market and are not in the table above. Naming them and saying why is part of what the table is for.

Greenawalt Roofing publishes a Montgomery Township page of its own, naming Montgomery Township and Rocky Hill, and publishes residential and commercial roofing, siding and gutters as services along with a CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster credential. It is a Pennsylvania company — its headquarters is on Marietta Avenue in Lancaster, and its only New Jersey address is a unit in Cherry Hill, about seventy miles from Montgomery. The registration it publishes reads NJ HIC # 13VH131198400, which is one digit longer than New Jersey’s twelve-character format. We could not match that string to a record, and we do not print a number we could not check ourselves. If the number on the site is a typing error, the correction is free and the row goes in.

Home Built Construction LLC, on Hamilton Street in Somerset, publishes its registration, 13VH06147400, and names Montgomery among the six municipalities on its site. It publishes custom homes, remodels and additions, kitchens, baths and basements, new construction, fit-outs and project management — and no roofing service anywhere on its site. The second half of our test is roofing published as a named service by the company itself, and this company does not publish one. It is a builder, and it is here because a reader searching for roofers in Montgomery will find it in a directory listing that says otherwise.

Basking Ridge Roofing Co., which trades as Father & Sons Construction, names Montgomery Township (Belle Mead, Skillman, Blawenburg), Rocky Hill and Millstone Borough in its Somerset County list and publishes roofing, siding, chimney, masonry, skylight and gutter work. It publishes no registration number, saying only “Licensed & Insured”, and no manufacturer certification. We could not find a registration under either name in September 2026. That is a statement about our search, not about the company — a registration held in an owner’s name or under a different legal entity would not surface in the searches we ran, and that is a common and entirely lawful arrangement.

Deegan Roofing Company, Scotch Plains, publishes Montgomery Township (Belle Mead, Skillman, Blawenburg), Rocky Hill and Millstone Borough pages and names Somerset among its counties; it publishes no registration number, and we could not find one under that name in September 2026. The same sentence applies.

James Shamro Contractor LLC appears in directory listings at a Dutchtown Zion Road address in Skillman, with roofing, roof vents, roof tiles and flat roof repair among its listed services. We could find no website of its own, and no registration under that name in September 2026. It is here so that a homeowner who has been handed the name in Dutchtown or Blawenburg knows what we could and could not find.

Two companies verified for our Bridgewater guide are deliberately absent. Intira LLC describes its territory as “Central and Northern New Jersey” and RDS Remodeling as “Central New Jersey”; neither names a town in this guide, and neither names Somerset County. Both are real, registered and working nearby. Under this guide’s test they are not here, and if either adds a town or a county to its site, they go on.

The Question This Table Cannot Answer Yet

Every company in the table lists roof repair as a service. Very few will actually come out and quote a single slipped shingle or a leaking flashing detail on a house they did not roof, and no website in this trade answers that question honestly, because there is no commercial reason to. It is, for most homeowners most of the time, the only question that matters — and in a township where one registered roofer has premises, it is the question that decides whether “local” means anything at all.

We are asking it directly, company by company, and the answers will be published here as they arrive. One has landed already: Proven Contracting told us plainly that yes, they do small repairs. Every other company on this page has been asked the same question. If you have called a roofer in Belle Mead, Skillman, Blawenburg, Rocky Hill or Millstone about a small repair, we would like to know what happened — whether they came, how long they took, and whether they quoted the repair or only a replacement. Common Questions

Wal Contracting, Franklin Park

Wal Contracting heads its own site “Franklin Park, NJ Roofing • Franklin Township Roofer” and publishes two registration numbers, the New Jersey 13VH12353900 and the Pennsylvania PA191643. Its published services run from premium residential roofing in slate, asphalt shingle and cedar shake to commercial flat roofing in TPO and EPDM, custom copper work, siding, windows, doors and renovations, and it names Somerset and Middlesex counties with Princeton, New Brunswick, Freehold, Bordentown, Trenton, Jersey City, Keansburg, Newark and Pottersville among its towns. It describes itself as a Certified GAF Contractor and publishes no street address; the state records WAL CONTRACTING LLC as active in Franklin Park, and GAF’s directory lists it on Vetter Drive there as GAF Certified, in business since 2021. Added to this guide on September 4, 2026, when its site was read to name Somerset County.

Does a roofer in Montgomery Township, NJ need a license?

Not a trade license. New Jersey does not examine or license roofers the way it licenses electricians, plumbers and heating contractors. Home improvement contractors register with the state under the Contractors’ Registration Act — the 13VH number — which carries commercial general liability insurance of at least $500,000 per occurrence and a written contract for any job over $500. Every company in the table above holds an active registration, and the table says which of them publish it. Whether a given roofing job falls inside the Act is a question for the state, not for this guide; what we publish is the record we ran.

Does a Belle Mead, Skillman or Blawenburg address always mean Montgomery Township?

Usually, and not always. Belle Mead, Skillman and Blawenburg are postal names rather than municipalities, and most addresses carrying them sit inside Montgomery Township — but Belle Mead in particular also reaches into Hillsborough Township, and some Skillman addresses fall in Princeton. It matters because the permit and the inspection belong to the municipality, not the post office. If you are not sure which township a property is in, the construction office listed at the foot of this page will tell you in one call.

Why does almost no roofer have premises here?

Belle Mead, Skillman and Rocky Hill hold 65 active home improvement registrations between them, and one of the companies in this guide is registered inside them. Most of Somerset County’s roofing trade is clustered fifteen to twenty-five minutes north, around Hillsborough, Somerville, Branchburg and Bridgewater, and it drives. A full replacement is a scheduled job rather than an emergency call, so the distance matters less than it feels like it should. What is worth asking directly is whether the crew on your roof works for the company or for a subcontractor, and who owns the warranty if the company changes hands.

Why does the registered name not match the company name?

Because registration attaches to a legal entity and trading names are free to differ from it. A company that was renamed, that was acquired, that operates a brand distinct from the corporation behind it, or that is a franchise location of a larger operator will show a registered name that looks unfamiliar. Eight companies in this guide do. It is normal, and it is why searching the state registry by the name on your estimate often returns nothing at all.

What does GAF Master Elite actually mean?

It is the top tier of GAF’s contractor programme, restricted by the manufacturer to a limited share of roofing contractors in each area, and it requires proof of licensing where applicable, insurance and ongoing installation training. Its practical consequence for a homeowner is access to GAF’s longest workmanship warranties, which cannot be offered by a non-certified installer. Below it sit GAF Certified Plus and GAF Certified, which most of the companies here hold. Owens Corning Platinum Preferred and CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster are the equivalent top tiers in those two programmes. All are checkable in the manufacturer’s own contractor directory.

Who Governs Roofing Work in Montgomery Township, Rocky Hill and Millstone Borough, NJ

Roofing work in New Jersey answers to two state agencies with confusingly similar names, and they do different things. The registration — the 13VH number in the table above — is issued by the Division of Consumer Affairs, Regulated Business Section — (973) 504-6370 — which is where the registration check described above is run. The permit belongs to the Uniform Construction Code, N.J.A.C. 5:23, written by the Department of Community Affairs, Division of Codes and Standards — (609) 292-7899 — and enforced by the construction office listed below. New Jersey adopted the 2024 editions of its construction subcodes on August 17, 2026; the one- and two-family dwelling subcode is the International Residential Code 2024, New Jersey edition (N.J.A.C. 5:23-3.21), per the Division’s current-codes table.

In this market, two of the three municipalities are inspected by the State rather than by a department of their own. That is unusual, and it is the most useful operational fact on this page.

Municipality Construction permit office, as the town names it Phone Construction Official, as published Hours, as published
Montgomery Township (Belle Mead, Skillman, Blawenburg) Building & Construction Department, 100 Community Drive, Skillman 908-359-8211 Michael Krupsky, Construction Official and Fire and Plumbing Subcode Official — 908-206-7305 Mon–Fri 8:00am–4:30pm; payments to 3:30pm
Rocky Hill Construction code administered by the State of New Jersey, Division of Codes and Standards, Office of Local Code Enforcement — at Borough Hall, 15 Montgomery Avenue 609-924-7445 William D. Patterson, Acting Construction Official Tuesdays 1:00pm–3:00pm at Borough Hall
Millstone Borough Shared service with the State of New Jersey; the regional inspector is based out of the Rocky Hill Municipal Building — Borough Hall, 1353 Main Street 908-281-6893 William Patterson, Building Inspector — 609-567-3653 Tuesdays 1:00pm–3:00pm

Every office above was opened and read on September 4, 2026. Names are published only where the municipality publishes them.

Rocky Hill and Millstone share one state inspector and one two-hour window a week. If you live in either borough, that is worth knowing before a contractor tells you an inspection can be arranged for tomorrow. Montgomery Township runs its own department on ordinary weekday hours and takes payment until 3:30pm. Millstone Borough here is the Somerset County borough of about four hundred people beside Montgomery, not Millstone Township in Monmouth County, which has its own office and its own contractors.

Fee schedules are adopted by ordinance and change. Whether a particular job needs a permit is interpreted by the town’s own construction office, not by us. We publish what each municipality published, with the date we checked it — confirm with the office before you rely on it, and if any of it has changed, the correction address at the foot of this page is the fastest way to tell us.

Something out of date?

This guide is maintained. If anything here is wrong or has changed — a name, an address, a registration number, a certification, or whether a business has closed — tell us and we will check it. Businesses listed here are welcome to write in directly, and a company that publishes a registration number we have recorded as absent is exactly the kind of correction we want.

And if you run a roofing company that should be on this list and is not, write to us. We would rather be told than be incomplete. The test is the same one every company here cleared: that you install, repair or replace residential roofs for homeowners in Montgomery Township, Rocky Hill or Millstone, and that you publish that work as a service on your own website. A permit pulled in one of those municipalities, a completed job, or your registration will do it. Show us that and you go on the page.
