The Guide: Siding and Window Contractors in Somerville, NJ
Siding and window work in New Jersey is registered, not licensed. Every company that re-sides a house or replaces its windows for a homeowner is required to hold a Home Improvement Contractor registration — the number that begins 13VH — and the state records that registration to a legal entity and a town, both of which are frequently not the ones on the company’s website. The registration is free to check and takes ninety seconds. This guide does it for twenty companies.
Two things distinguish this trade from roofing, and both matter more in Somerville than in most of the county. The first is that siding tear-off and window replacement on any house built before 1978 fall under a federal lead-paint rule with its own certification, which almost nobody publishes — and Somerville is an old borough, the county seat, laid out along Main Street generations before that date. The second is that only one company in this guide works from inside the borough. The rest come in, and every one of them either names Somerville or Somerset County on its own site or keeps premises in Somerset County a few miles from the line.

This guide covers two places: Somerville and Hillsborough.
A company appears here if it installs or replaces residential siding or windows for homeowners in Somerville and Hillsborough, publishes that work as a named service on its own website, and holds a New Jersey Home Improvement Contractor registration that the state records as active. For a company based outside the borough, its own website has to name Somerville or Somerset County as somewhere it works, or its premises have to sit in Somerset County within a few miles of the line. That is the whole test. It is not a test of size, of price, of how long a company has been trading, or of what we think of its work. Twenty companies meet it and are listed alphabetically. What a company publishes about itself is not the criterion. It is the content. Where a business publishes a registration number, this guide prints it and reports what the state record says about it. One company in this guide publishes premises inside the borough: Levs Construction, on West Cliff Street. Bellari Home Remodeling sits on County Line Road in Branchburg — the borough line, with a Somerville ZIP code — and describes itself as headquartered in Somerset County. Bridgewater Township, which wraps around the borough on three sides, supplies seven more: Lasting Construction & Improvements, Markey Windows, Doors & More, Mighty Dog Roofing of Bridgewater, Proven Contracting, Tyler Roofing and W.C. Construction, with MD Contracting & Roofing in Martinsville. Markey’s East Main Street showroom in Bridgewater is the nearest place to Somerville where a homeowner can walk in and look at a window. Kepo Siding & Windows is in Hillsborough, Padovani Roofing and Construction is in Neshanic Station, OTX Home Remodeling is in Manville, and Hammer Exteriors works from an office park in the Somerset section of Franklin Township.

One Somerville address that Google leads with for this search is not in the table, and the reason is at the foot of the page. Several of the Bridgewater addresses are office suites on Route 22 and Route 202 rather than yards, and the state registers four companies here somewhere other than the town they publish. None of that is a mark against anybody. It is why the table carries both towns.

A Note on Reading the Registration Column
Twelve of the twenty companies in the table publish a New Jersey registration number on their own website. That is the first thing the table shows, and on its own it is only mildly interesting. The second thing it shows is the reason the column is split in two.
The registered name is often not the trading name. Bellari Home Remodeling’s registration is held by Somerville Aluminum Co., Inc. — the name the company traded under for decades, and the only place the word Somerville appears in its record. MD Contracting & Roofing is registered as Michael & Danielle Deegan Contracting LLC. Levs Construction is registered as Lev’s Construction, with an apostrophe. Mighty Dog Roofing of Bridgewater is registered to JDC Property Management Company LLC. Every one of those is lawful, ordinary and invisible to a homeowner typing a company name into the state’s search box — which matches the registered name from its first letters and returns nothing for the name on the estimate.
The registered town is not always the published town. Matute Roofing publishes Wayne and is registered in Towaco. Hammer Exteriors publishes Somerset and is registered in South Plainfield. Proven Contracting publishes Bridgewater and is registered in Livingston, one of the four offices it lists. Mighty Dog Roofing of Bridgewater works from a Bridgewater suite and is registered in Mount Laurel, because the registration belongs to the franchisee. A registered office and an operating office are different things and a company is entitled to both — but a homeowner checking a number has no way to know which one they are looking at.
One company publishes the wrong state’s number. Hunterdon Roofing, Siding & Window Company displays a Pennsylvania registration, PA161132, and not its New Jersey one, 13VH00209500, which is active in Lebanon. A homeowner who checked the published number against New Jersey’s registry would find nothing.
How to check a registration yourself
Search the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs licensee verification for Home Improvement Contractors, using the business search rather than the individual one. You can search by the 13VH number if you have it, or by the beginning of the registered name — the name search matches from the start of the name, so a partial word at the front works and a word from the middle does not. The result gives the registered entity, the number, the status and the town. It is free.
What the registration is, and what it is not
A 13VH registration means the business has registered with the state, carries commercial general liability insurance of at least $500,000 per occurrence, and is subject to the Contractors’ Registration Act. It is not a competency examination and it is not a trade licence — New Jersey does not test siding and window installers the way it tests electricians, plumbers or heating contractors. It tells you a business exists on the record and can be found again. That is worth having and it is not the same as skill.
The One Certification Almost Nobody in This Guide Publishes
The federal Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting rule applies to any house built before 1978. Siding tear-off and window replacement both trigger it by definition, because both disturb painted surfaces on the outside of the house. A firm doing that work on a pre-1978 house is required to hold its own EPA Lead-Safe firm certification, with a firm number, separate from anything the state issues. In Somerville that is not an edge case: much of the borough’s housing predates 1978, and the year built for any address is on the borough’s tax record.
One company in this guide publishes an EPA Lead-Safe firm number: Proven Contracting, NAT-F124892-3. The rest publish nothing either way, which is not a finding about whether they hold it — EPA no longer runs a public directory a homeowner can check, so we could not check it for them, and we do not print a column we cannot fill honestly. What a homeowner can do is ask for the number rather than a reassurance, and check the house’s year built on the municipal tax record before signing. We have asked every company on this page for its number, and the answers will be published here as they arrive.

Bellari Home Remodeling has been installing siding and windows from County Line Road — in Branchburg, on the Somerville line, with a Somerville ZIP code — under one name or another since 1950, by its own account, and describes itself as headquartered in Somerset County. It traded for decades as Somerville Aluminum, and the state still records the registration under SOMERVILLE ALUMINUM CO., INC, active in Branchburg under 13VH01723200. It describes itself as a ProVia certified installer and a VELUX Certified Installer and publishes no registration number of its own.
Benchmark Siding Co., Branchburg
Benchmark Siding Co. works from Branchburg, and its own pages carry vinyl siding, cultured stone, windows and doors, PVC trim and roofing installation. Its service-area copy names Somerset County, which is what puts it on this page. The state records BENCHMARK SIDING CO., LLC as active in Branchburg under 13VH01139200; the number is not on its site. Hammer Exteriors, Somerset
Hammer Exteriors works from an office park on Campus Drive in the Somerset section of Franklin Township and names Somerville, Bridgewater, Hillsborough, Franklin Township and Bound Brook under Somerset County on its areas-we-serve page. It publishes siding, doors and windows, gutters and roofing as its services, describes itself as GAF Certified Plus with more than twenty years of experience, and says it is licensed and insured without printing a number. The state records HAMMER EXTERIORS LLC as active in South Plainfield — not Somerset — under 13VH10818400.
Hunterdon Roofing, Siding & Window Company, Lebanon
Hunterdon Roofing, Siding & Window Company carries a Somerville exterior-contractor page on its own site — roofing, siding and windows — and says its crews are regularly working in Bridgewater and Somerville. It works from Route 31 in Lebanon as a third-generation company trading since 1974, by its own account, and names ProVia, Andersen and James Hardie among its brands. The number it publishes, PA161132, is a Pennsylvania registration; its New Jersey registration is held by HUNTERDON SIDING & WINDOW COMPANY LLC., active in Lebanon under 13VH00209500, and does not appear on its site.
Kepo Siding & Windows, Hillsborough
Kepo Siding & Windows works from Ilene Court in Hillsborough and publishes siding, windows, doors, decks, masonry and trim — and, since our first read, roofing and gutters under their own heading — naming Somerset County on its wood, fiber cement and window pages and describing itself as a James Hardie President’s Award recipient and Andersen certified. Its site names counties rather than towns. It publishes no registration number; the state records KEPO SIDING & WINDOWS LLC as active in Hillsborough under 13VH03778400. It was added to our roofing guide for these towns on September 3, 2026, when its site was read to publish roofing, and this entry was corrected the same day.
Lasting Construction & Improvements, Bridgewater
Lasting Construction & Improvements publishes siding, roofing, gutters and decks as its services from East Main Street in Bridgewater, and names Somerville on its service-area page among roughly forty-five towns; it does not publish windows as a service. Its registration, 13VH05440400, is on its site, and the state records LASTING CONSTRUCTION & IMPROVEMENTS LLC as active in Bridgewater.
Levs Construction, Somerville
Levs Construction is the one company in this guide working from inside the borough, on West Cliff Street. It publishes “roofing & sidings” and decks, and describes itself as family-owned and woman-led with its own in-house crews; it does not publish windows as a service. Registration 13VH03110400 is active and recorded in Somerville under LEV’S CONSTRUCTION, and is not on its site.
Magnolia Home Remodeling Group, Union
Magnolia Home Remodeling Group carries a Somerville vinyl siding page on its own site, alongside Somerville home-improvement and general-contractor pages describing more than thirty years of work in the town, and works from Vauxhall Road in Union with windows, roofing and masonry alongside. It lists Alside, CertainTeed, James Hardie and Royal as siding manufacturers it installs. Its registration, 13VH07755300, is in its footer; the state records MAGNOLIA HOME REMODELING GROUP INC as active in Union.
Markey Windows, Doors & More, Bridgewater
Markey Windows, Doors & More is the one company in this guide with a showroom — on East Main Street in Bridgewater, open seven days — and carries Somerville window-replacement pages on its own site. It names its founder as Jim Markey; windows and doors lead its published services, with siding and roofing behind them, and it describes itself as American Window and Door Institute certified. It publishes no registration number; the state records MARKEY WINDOWS DOORS & MORE LLC as active in Bridgewater under 13VH00674000.
Matute Roofing, Wayne
Matute Roofing publishes siding installation and repair, window installation and door installation alongside its roofing from Galesi Drive in Wayne, and lists Somerville by name under Somerset County on its areas-we-serve page. It publishes no registration number; the state records MATUTE ROOFING INC as active in Towaco — not Wayne — under 13VH10366000.
MD Contracting & Roofing, Martinsville
MD Contracting & Roofing publishes siding, roofing, gutters and masonry as its services and its registration, 13VH11396100, on its site, naming Somerset among nine counties; it mentions “high quality window and doors” without listing windows as a service. GAF’s directory places it in Martinsville. The state records MICHAEL & DANIELLE DEEGAN CONTRACTING LLC DBA MD CONTRACTING as active in Bridgewater.

Mighty Dog Roofing of Bridgewater publishes siding installation and replacement and window repair and replacement alongside its roofing, from a franchise office on Route 22 East in Bridgewater, and carries a Somerville page on its own site. It publishes its registration, 13VH14091100; the state records it under JDC PROPERTY MANAGEMENT COMPANY LLC DBA MIGHTY DOG ROOFING NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY, active in Mount Laurel — the franchisee’s registered address, not the Bridgewater office.
New Jersey Siding & Windows, Randolph
New Jersey Siding & Windows leads with replacement windows and siding from Sussex Turnpike in Randolph and names Somerset County among the ten counties it serves; it lists thirteen siding and window brands and no certification tier. Its registration, 13VH03088700, is on its site, and the state records NEW JERSEY SIDING & WINDOWS INC as active in Randolph. Its own pages give its founding three ways — 1999, “20+” and “25+” years.
OTX Home Remodeling, Manville
OTX Home Remodeling leads its published services with windows, then roofing, doors, siding and gutters, from Manville, naming Somerset, Morris, Union and Hunterdon counties. It publishes no registration number and no street address; the state records OTX HOME REMODELING LLC as active in Manville under 13VH11888900.
Padovani Roofing and Construction, Neshanic Station
Padovani Roofing and Construction publishes siding, windows, gutters and decks alongside its roofing and sheet-metal work from Neshanic Station, six miles from the borough line in Somerset County, describing its territory as Central New Jersey and the tri-state area rather than naming towns — so it is here on its premises rather than on a Somerville claim. Its registration, 13VH01375300, is on its site; the state records PADOVANI CONSTRUCTION as active in Neshanic Station, and GAF’s directory has it in business since 1993.
Proven Contracting, Bridgewater
Proven Contracting publishes siding, windows and roofing from Thruway Drive in Bridgewater, one of four New Jersey offices it lists, carries a Somerville page on its own site, and is the one company in this guide that publishes an EPA Lead-Safe firm number — NAT-F124892-3 — which matters for siding tear-off and window replacement on any house built before 1978. It names David Curcio as managing partner and Ryan Watson as general manager and co-founder, and describes itself as James Hardie Certified. Its registration, 13VH08608400, is on its site; the state records PROVEN CONTRACTING.COM LLC as active in Livingston.
Superior Siding & Windows, Rockaway
Superior Siding & Windows lists Somerville among thirteen towns on its Somerset County page and works from Rockaway. It names Alside, ProVia and Marvin as brands and no certification tier, and publishes no registration number and no street address; the state records SUPERIOR SIDING & WINDOWS, LLC as active in Rockaway under 13VH01107800.
Times Siding and Windows, Branchburg
Times Siding and Windows has installed siding, replacement windows and doors from Branchburg since 1981, and its service-area pages name Somerville among the Somerset County towns it covers. Andersen, CertainTeed, MI Windows and Therma-Tru are among the brands it lists. The number on its site, 13VH00908100, belongs to the earlier Times Siding Inc; the registration the state currently records as active is 13VH11145700, held by TIMES SIDING AND WINDOWS LLC and recorded in Somerset. Tyler Roofing, Bridgewater
Tyler Roofing publishes siding, window installation and window replacement alongside its roofing from a Route 202 suite in Bridgewater, and names Somerville among the towns it serves; its site claims over thirty years of experience. Its registration, 13VH10921200, is on its site; the state records TYLER ROOFING LLC as active in Bridgewater.
W.C. Construction, Bridgewater
W.C. Construction publishes siding installation, repair and replacement, windows and doors, and gutters from Washington Valley Road in Bridgewater, offers a fifteen-year warranty on labour on its siding page, and names Somerville among the towns it serves. It names ProVia among its credentials. Its registration, 13VH10064100, is on its site; the state records WC CONSTRUCTION LLC as active in Bridgewater.
A Somerville Address That Is Not in the Table
Ask Google for a siding and window contractor in Somerville and it leads with two companies at Somerville addresses. One is Levs Construction, which is in the table. The other, AVEQOR Roofing & Restoration, publishes an East Main Street address in the borough and siding, windows and gutters among its services. We searched the state’s registrant record under that name in September 2026 and found no registration. The company’s own site says, in its own words, that licences and registrations held by a prior company are not represented as its credentials until they are confirmed for the new entity — which is a careful and correct thing to say, and it is also why the company is not in the table. A registration held under an owner’s name or a different legal entity would not surface in the search we ran, and that is common and lawful. We report our search, never their compliance. The day an active registration is on the record under the name on the estimate, the company goes on the page.
Two companies on our Bridgewater siding guide are not here for a plainer reason: Intira and RDS Remodeling name neither Somerville nor Somerset County on their own sites and keep no premises in the county. Either can change that by naming the town. Benchmark Siding Co. was named here until September 5, 2026, when a re-read of its own site found that it does name Somerset County; it is now in the table.
The Question This Table Cannot Answer Yet
Almost every company here publishes both siding and windows, and most publish roofing, decks or masonry beside them. What no website says is which of those the company does with its own crew and which it subcontracts, and it is the single fact most likely to decide how the job goes. Common Questions
Does a siding or window installer in Somerville, NJ need a licence?
Not a trade licence. New Jersey requires registration as a Home Improvement Contractor — the 13VH number — with commercial general liability insurance of at least $500,000 per occurrence and a written contract for any job over $500. The Contractors’ Registration Act names siding and windows squarely. Every company in the table holds an active registration, and the table says which of them publish it.
Is my house in Somerville old enough for the lead rule to apply?
If it was built before 1978, yes, and in this borough that describes a large share of the housing. The year built is on the tax record for every property. The rule covers siding removal and window replacement on such a house regardless of whether lead paint has ever been found there, because the work disturbs painted surfaces by definition. The contractor, not the homeowner, is the one who must hold the certification.
What should a siding contract actually say?
New Jersey requires a written contract for any home improvement job over $500, and it must carry the contractor’s registration number. Beyond that, the useful items are the manufacturer and product line by name, whether house wrap and flashing are included, who removes and disposes of the old siding, whether rotted sheathing found underneath is priced or excluded, and who holds the workmanship warranty if the company changes hands.
Why does the registered name not match the company name?
Because registration attaches to a legal entity and trading names are free to differ from it. Several companies in this guide are registered under a name that is not the one on their website — a decades-old former name, a personal-names LLC, a franchisee entity. It is normal, and it is why searching the state registry by the name on your estimate often returns nothing.
What does a manufacturer certification actually get me?
Access to the manufacturer’s longer warranties, which are only available through installers it has certified, and some evidence of installation training. James Hardie, Andersen and ProVia each run installer programmes with tiers. Several companies here name a tier on their own site; we have not checked those claims at the manufacturers, so this guide does not compare them in a column. Ask the installer for the manufacturer’s own listing.
Who Governs Siding and Window Work in Somerville, NJ
Siding and window work in New Jersey answers to two state agencies with confusingly similar names, and they do different things. The registration — the 13VH number in the table above — is issued by the Division of Consumer Affairs, Regulated Business Section — (973) 504-6370 — which is where the registration check described above is run. The permit belongs to the Uniform Construction Code, N.J.A.C. 5:23, written by the Department of Community Affairs, Division of Codes and Standards — (609) 292-7899 — and enforced by the borough’s own construction office, listed below. Somerville does not call its permit office “Construction” and it does not call it “Code Enforcement” either — the Building Division sits inside the Community Development Department at borough hall on West End Avenue, and Code Enforcement in Somerville is property maintenance under the fire inspector, the opposite of how Bridgewater uses the term. The borough also states a sequence on its own pages: you often need a zoning permit before you can get a construction permit, and zoning is a separate desk at a separate extension in the same department. Whether a window swap or a re-side needs a permit at a particular house is the construction office’s call, not the contractor’s, and the borough’s older streets are one more reason to ask before the dumpster arrives.
Fee schedules are adopted by ordinance and change. Whether a particular job needs a permit is interpreted by the borough’s own construction office, not by us.
